Acey Tapp Mysteries: The Cold Case Team

In his late forties, Acey was born and raised in the fictional town of Willow Falls, Michigan, the only child of Laura and Karl Tapp. At the start of the series, He is an unemployed, skirt-chasing truck driver facing the imminent death of his mother.

Acey sees himself as a natural for the job of private investigator, as he can lie easily and loves to be on the road. Obssessed with the father who abandoned him at birth, he has a natural interest in tracking missing persons.

Megan is the woman who makes the story "whole." We meet her as the manager of her brother's motel, which caters to the down and out. As a young woman, Megan spent time in the Peace Corps, and her attitudes and personality reflect that experience.

Acey meets Megan when he goes looking for information on the hobo found murdered at the beginning of The Hobo Chronicles. Almost immediately, he is mesmerized by Megan's intuitive smarts and simple charm.

Owner of McMunn & Sons PI firm, Webb is a complex man, obssessed with finding missing persons. He, himself, was abducted at the age of two and was not rescued until the age of ten. His rescuer, PI Charlie McMunn, adopted and raised him - Webb is the son in McMunn and Sons.

At the time Acey comes looking for a job, Webb is alone, in poor health and trying to deal with his personal demons. But he sees something in Acey that makes him decide to become his mentor and father figure.
